Why You Are Fat!

Fat Lady

The Struggle

It's a common misconception that we get fat because we eat too much and exercise too little—after all, this is what we've been told our whole lives!

So many of us (me included!) have spent years and years starving ourselves and exercising like crazy just trying to get the weight off—weight that seemed to appear for no apparent reason when it all began… We were told we just needed more willpower and to avoid eating too many calories or high-fat foods and that the weight would come off. We did as we were told, yet when we gained even MORE weight, we were chastised by our doctors for not following instructions! However, we KNEW we had done everything possible to lose the weight…

Journey

Getting Started

So you've decided to begin a ketogenic lifestyle and don't know where or how exactly to start! You're in the right place! I will share some of the very basics of LCHF/Keto and also some of my own journey, as well as some books, articles, and videos from other web sites to help you get started right…

First of all, some terminology clarification… You will hear several terms to describe this way of eating (WOE - there's your first term!), and it can become confusing. Here are a few and what they mean:

Do-Overs!

Journey

Do-Overs!

It's been quite some time since I've shared anything with all of you! I wanted to update you and let you know I will be posting regularly again, so thank you for your patience!

I originally had invited you to join me on this journey towards regaining my health through a ketogenic way of eating. To me, this means every part of the journey—both good and not-so-good! Shortly after my last post I had to be hospitalized several times throughout that year due to atrial fibrillation (AFIB) attacks. Each hospital visit really through me off track with my eating, because they just do NOT understand what "healthy" really means for those of us with diabetes/insulin resistance! I got tired of fighting them and ate what I was given—only to find myself craving all the "crappy carbage" again! This began "the struggle" all over again to get back to the way of eating that had done so much for my health and weight…
